A sneak peek at what I’ve recently finished.:
Start with the rain. A dark day. In the distance, the water, small gray waves lapping. The kitchen phone – ringing and ringing. An undertow of sound really, against the backdrop of bigger things – the hum of the fan above me, a small dog whimpering…somewhere alone. Further off, a child singing about the things someone is bringing home — I’m getting a new toy. I’m getting a new toy. Over and over until even his song becomes a tone.
